Snow day ramblings

THANK GOD I ran around like a mad woman yesterday and finished my shopping and my errands for the weekend. Holy crazy snow! Ron and I took turns shoveling this morning. There hasn't been a storm like this in five years. This year's secret Christmas project is officially a success after a trial and error recovery. The lab has been busy all weekend. It is ready to be given! Finally...

Shoveling is tiring. I did my cross-training for the day! Here's how hot I look while shoveling. Actually, I think I scare the neighbor kids away.

Looking at my Christmas decorations while listening to Dillanger Escape Plan makes me feel weird.

New websites in the Year Zero ARG??? You decide.

Okay, back to putting the finishing touches on my Christmas gifts. It really is beautiful outside. No driving today!

Has anyone ever heard of a musician named Jandek? Apparently, this is what some music critic described his sound as:

It's like somebody making music from a description of what songs are without ever actually having heard any.

Um...okay. WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? That means the music doesn't sound like music! Anyway, he's a really interesting character study. Listen for yourself here.

And check out the smartest kid ever...I don't even know where the Ivory Coast is. I feel like I wasted my elementary school education.

Is there a problem, officer?

This guy drove from New York to Los Angeles in 31 hours and 4 minutes. Don't believe me? Listen to Alexander Roy tell it. Oh, and check out his book on cross-country racing. Nutty.

Will Ferrell takes on George Bush and Global Warming. Apparently, Conde Rice loves frisbee golf.

Two posts in one day. Aren't you lucky!

I guess it's time for an update...

For those of you who still read this (Amber and Cynthia!), here are the latest developments:

I'm running a half marathon in May of 2008. God help me.

Ron and I are on the way to living debt-free - yeah, it's time to think about the future.

Gas prices might kill me. I have four out of town trips in the next two months. UGH.

We will finally have furniture in our house in the next two weeks. AWESOME.

I'm going to try and start making my own crafts again. If I get arthritis in the next six months, I'm screwed.

I can't wait to see all my friends come in from out of the state this Christmas!!!

Okay, clearly I'm here when I should be working. I just wanted you to know that I'm still alive. Peace out.

The Return of Dead Arm

I road my bike to the Emory with Ron for dinner. I just love saying that...road my bike. Had a delicious black bean burger and drank some beer...then biked home. Take that, gas guzzlers!

I've been meaning to post this video clip for a while. I love Queens of the Stone Age, even more so with the release of their new album. I think that Josh Homme is one of the most entertaining personalities in rock music. Where does he come up with them? When I see them at the State Theater next month, I hope I don't shit in someone else's pants...just watch and you'll understand why...

Where have I been?

Wow, am I out of the loop! I heard 3 great songs today from !Forward Russia!, Band of Horses, and Grizzly Bear. I've read so much about them, but have never really listened to them until now. Oh, I have lots of music to buy - new stuff from They Might Be Giants, Roddy Womble (Idlewild lead singer), New Pornographers, Rilo Kiley, Stars, MIA...ahhhhhh!

Somebody tell me what else I'm missing out on.

Off to Columbus this weekend. The Crew vs. the Chicago Fire - douse those muthatruckas!!!

Okay...more photos to scan...laters!!!

Life. Boom.

Life is crazy/awesome/more than I can afford right now. New company name and now double the office space (Evolution Media!). Work is the busiest that it's ever been. House is near empty. Need paint, furniture, kitchen table, pictures on the wall. Want to plant shrubs and flowers. Want to have a lawn and not an ever-expanding patch of weeds. Going to to some kick-ass shows in the next couple of months...(Swivel Hips!). Need some new clothes. Need to learn how to sew. Need to visit Jackie in Chicago and Amber in Vermont.

Now, check out the new Dharma orientation video - The Orchid. The new season of Lost is going to blow backs out...flashbacks or flashforwards...hmmmm
