Retraction

To those I may have offended,
I have always been an avid kitten lover. I wasn't raised around the comfort of dogs; my parents today still have cats. In no way would I, in reality, ever harm a kitten. I simply don't have it in my blood to hurt a kitten. I have made light of that scenerio and I apologize for taking such an emotional situation and making a joke of it. Per my comment on the previous post, my neighbors do have a kittern and, in all seriousness, my heart breaks a little bit each time I walk by the window and it's sitting there, being utterly sweet and adorable. Because I know it will never fall asleep in between my neck and shoulder or play with my shoelaces.

The Great Debate

Which is cuter - a kitten or a baby penguin, because I gotta tell ya, BABY PENGUINS MAKE ME WANT TO GO OUT AND DROWN KITTENS. If you think about how cute both of them are at the same time, your head will explode. That's how cute baby penguins are. I saw March of the Penguins last night and it was one of the best documentaries I've ever seen. I can hear the nay-sayers already. "Penguins? They're stupid. How can they be interesting?" Let's just say that when one compares humans to penguins, humans are absolutely the weaker species. Humans are SO weak compared to your Emporer penguin. The penguin father is truly a model figure. It's a wonderful story about love and family and survival. And yes, there were tears. Come on, people, they're baby penguins. All fat and sweaky and wobbly and helpless. You'd be a puddle, too. Anyway, I highly recommend it, even if your not a huge fan of the penguin.

This past weekend went like this - Boogie Fever, sneeze my brains out, driving in too much heat, blowing my nose, wedding on Saturday (so much fun...saw Ron's high school buddies and their girlfriends. Everyone got along splendidly, despite the heat. It was an outdoor wedding over looking a lake...gorgeous and WARM AS HADES), more nose blowing, laying out with Ron's sister and parents by the pool ALL day Sunday. It really felt like a vacation...only with lots of Kleenex.

So, Tastefest. FRIDAY NIGHT IS GOING TO ROCK MY WORLD SO HARD. I may pull a muscle during Electric Six. Everyone enjoy Brazilian Girls on Saturday!

Is anyone going to NIN/QOTSA? I haven't bought tickets, though, I am going to They Might Be Giants, and you bet that I'm excited! I love geeky boys!

Yep, it's official.

My body has officially rejected red meat and pork as we know it. Russ made delicious pulled pork with true hickory smoked flavor (muy delicioso!). But, as my stomach began to process the meat, it felt heavier...and heavier...to a point where I wanted to barf simply not because I was nauseous, but because I wanted to stop my stomach from expolding. So Russ, it was a tasty, tasty dinner, but alas, I can no longer enjoy pork. My body simply won't let me.

I want nothing more than to go outside and play today. How perfect is it for disc golf right now? Oh, the perils of money-making. It must be done. I will be working out (boo) and dress shopping (yay) tonight. I have a wedding to go to this Saturday, and I've been wearing the same dress for the last two years. Time for an upgrade. I kind of miss going to weddings - it's been a dry season so far. I like the dressing up and the open bar and the dancing and the happiest and all that good stuff.

Okay, back to work now. By the way, most of you may know this, but how great is the Tastefest lineup this year? Jeezy Chrizzy - check it out!

Best concert news of the summer!!!

Your Detroit Pistons - they kill Spurs dead. Holy shit...this is nutty!

OMG??? WTF??? THEY MIGHT BE GIANTS ARE COMING TO THE ROYAL OAK MUSIC THEATER ON JULY 14TH!!!! OH, HAPPY GLORIOUS DAY!

Yes, my friends, I love those goddamn geeks and yet, I've never seen them live. That is all about to change. I can't wait to sing Thunderbird, Bangs, Purple Toupee, Birdhouse In Your Soul...and the hit keep on comin'!

Okay, back to crafting. And watching the Pistons stomp, spit and dance all over the Spurs. Yep, one of these Wednesdays I'm going to sell my merch at the Baar Bizaare.

I want my own moving castle.

I don't know what it is about Hayao Miyazaki's films that simply makes my soul feel lifted. A ridiculous amount of creativity. I say ridiculous because in no way is any part of his films stolen or in homage to anything. The characters, the creatures, the magic - it's all totally orginal. Tonight, Ron and I saw his newest film "Howl's Moving Castle." If anyone has not seen "Spirited Away," you will witness a work of art. Beautiful. Howl's is coming to The Main Art soon. Look for it!

Tomorrow I'm going to check out the Bizarre Bizare at the Garden Bowl to see if my wares are up to snuff. I've been looking for a low-key place to trade my goods for paper money...this may be it!

The New Pornographers are not coming to Detroit (SHIT!), but they are coming to Kalamazoo on the same night at NIN. Geezy Chrizzy, isn't it obvious?

Oh, and Dodgeball is so on. It's going to be the best season yet. We've got some fresh meat this time around as well as The D-Spot MVPs from last season. We're going straight to the top!

This weekend - Boogie Fever Friday, Royal Oak Clay and Glass Festival/Taste of Royal Oak Saturday, hanging with Pops and SLGTM(only 10 bucks!) on Sunday. Sheesh! I never have my weekend pinned down this early. Anyone who wants to come shake some ass to Vanilla Ice and Ah-Ha, come on down! I'll be the one doing the Roger Rabbit and the Cabage Patch. Word.

To Gilbert: AH! Holy human pin cushion. Good news, you can have water...and mayonaise...and apples. Please keep us posted on your progress, and stay healthy!

I look forward to Matt's real time Piston's play-by-play for the second half. Oh, and great pictures, Miss Emily and Miss Jackie!

Oh what a beautiful morning

I stand by my philosophy that if you work hard, good things will happen. Swimsuit shopping has always been a stressful, nervewracking, tiring experience. This weekend, I bought my first swimsuit in four years - it's a two piece tankini, a halter, and for the love of all that is holy, I finally fit into a medium bottom. And the San Diego pants I bought last May...I wore them for the first time today. I feel like one of those women in the Botox commercials except without the urge to inject my face with an unidentified substance. Will power: I didn't change my diet, really. I just cut down on the soda and the snacking, increased the water and started working out on a regular basis. That's it. I still have my milkshakes and my cookies and my occasional soda (it's a treat for myself...if you cut it out complete, you will only crave it), but I just ride that train out of Moderation Station. It feels good to finally see all of this work paying off. Rawk.

Don't forget - EMILY'S BIRTHDAY FRIDAY, DORKWAVE SATURDAY. Start taking your naps tomorrow.

Time to catch up on all my magazines...jezzy creezy, more entertainment than I can handle. Oh and for all you "State" fans who wanna dip their balls in it, Stella will be premiering on Comedy Central on June 28th. Hey, Barry and Levon, better than 240 dollars of pudding?

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwww, yeah. First I cook, then I chill.

I'm outta heeeeeeeeeeeeeeere!

Late HBO Bloomer

"Entourage" is one of the best shows I've seen aside from my action packed Wednesday nights. If anyone has seen the Gary Busey episode, we have to talk. He's an artist and he will baptize you by the ocean. "You're gonna spin off the planet. Keep it up." Jeremy Piven is the best kept secret in the world of television. So funny and so smarmy - 'let's hug it out' will soon become a part of my everyday vocabulary. New episodes every Sunday night at 9pm - available 24/7 from On Demand.

That whole 'going to bed' thing didn't work out.

That's what I call a basketball game

I hope Matt's health is no longer in jeapordy. Wow, now that's what a I call a sporting event. You cheered and you lost faith then they came back and then they fell behind. Clapping in your apartment is not cheesy. If the fan doesn't come out, you'll pull something. Thursday at 8:30!

We lost power last night and earlier this morning. We had to sleep on our futon in the living room since, I don't know, it's a SAUNA in our bedroom. We had the living room windows open and no AC. Needless to say, it's bedtime. MMmmmmmmmmmmm, good night.

Century Club - Round Deux

The best way to participate in Centry Club is to sit back and let it all soak in...and remain sober. I did participate for the first full beer (12 shots) and was in surprisingly good condition. Lots of water chasers. But I don't want to spoil anything. I'll let the Official Century Club 6-04-2005 blog take care of that.

Lost geeks - take note!!!

Hey guys, thanks to Vert, we found a great trailer for the next season of LOST, click here. Trust me, you'll watch it five times in a row. Next season is gonna be great!!!

Also, there are some great secrets to the Oceanic site. Here are a few that we found (thanks to another geek on the message board. I knew despreate times called for desperate measures!):

-On the main page, on the long paragraph on the right, if you click and drag from the right edge of the box to the left edge, you will pull a pink missing page of script. It reveals more about the monster. Yes, there is a monster and it seems uber creepy. I suggest a wikipedia search on the name of the monster - its history is really neat. JJ does his research, that's for sure.

-If you click on Track Flight, then type in 815, you'll come up with the flight times. Click on any part of this chart (your mouse won't pick up on anything, just click anyway). You'll get to the seating chart. Click any seat in each row in this order - 4,8,15,16,23,42 (hmm...those numbers are familiar) and seats will become highlighted where different passangers sat. Click on those boxes and you'll get a graphic or video presentation. Do they reveal any clues? I guess that's for us to decide.

GOD DAMN, I'M SUCH A DORK! While we're on the topic of recommendations, those who enjoy watching the rock and roll lifestyle in action and listening to some really good music, watch "Dig". I know Russ bought it (wise purchase, my friend) but your friendly neighborhood Blockbuster and Netfilx will be happy to provide. The bonus footage and the 'where are they now' segments are really interesting. These musicians were all so nutty and when you compile seven years worth of footage, amazing moments are bound to be captured.
