Tony's got nothin' on these Tigers.

Okay, so I'm not a sports fan, but I love rallying for my home team. Some seemingly insignificant things that I'm loving about tonight's game: Brandon Inge's soul highway (it's not just a patch, people); Polanco and the amazing grimmace (nervous tick?); the fact that Fox like to replay completely ridiculous parts of the game (oh no, the lineman got hit by the ball...in the arm...let's replay that four times. People love that shit!); camera cuts to a shot of the crowd and there's a man shoving a gyro that's twice the size of St. Louis into his mouth; the stadium is named after one of the worst beers on the face of the planet (Busch Stadium). I hope that some time in the near future we'll see the Milwaukee's Best Arena or the Natural Light Convention Center.

Not so good: We're down by 2 (boo.); the Fox announcers don't account for people like me who don't fully understand the strategy behind the game, like "why in the world would they intentionally walk a batter to load the bases with one out?" Answer: to force a double-play. That makes sense - I just had to call Ron so he could give me the answer.

My extreme girl crush on Jenny Lewis has been officialy replaced by Amy Millan. Goddamn, I've never heard songs about heartbreak and suffering sound so sexy. And she sings about whiskey. She can take my lunch money any day of the week.

I can't wait until Friday. The new Hold Steady album is making me crazy. I'll be singing along to every word and enjoying a number of tasty beverages with Miss Sarah, Mister Matt and my Smerigan.

I feel jesus in the clumsiness of young and awkward lovers.
I feel judas in the long odds of the rackets on the corners.
I feel jesus in the tenderness of honest nervous lovers.

lost in fog and love and faithless fear.
I've had kisses that make Judas seem sincere.

Sharing is caring.

Mr. Gary has a cool new journal/music blog here. I think I need to investigate. It's a new link on the left...I just may start my own. Gary is always on top of things, even as a full time Dad/all-around cool dude. I'm never to far from new music now!

Lee Marvin BEST EVER

I'm sick of only seeing Lee Marvin Computer Arm live once a year at the Blowout. Thanks to webvomit, here is a track from their new EP. The link will be expiring soon, so get on that. They'll be at the Lager House on November 22nd with Thunderbirds Are Now!...They make me want to break stuff. Trumpet, tambourine, loud noises - I love rock and roll.

NYC, why are you so far away?

I love Annie Leibovitz and I want to go to New York City.

And there's this little music conference happening in a couple of weeks - CMJ Music 26.2 Mile Race makes me crazy every year. Yeah, it's a lot of unnecessary buzz, but DAMN is that a lot of music to absorb.

Workworkwork. 14 hour shooting day yesterday. 11 hour shooting day today. More wild adventures in downtown Detroit tomorrow. Tiiiiiiiiiiiiired, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

October just turned into a flurry of activity. Weddings and Homecoming and Halloween, oh my! And, yes, I will attempt this following costume (Thundercats, ho!):

Rants n' Rants

I've already discussed "Lost" with those who attending this evening's screening. We emptied a bottle of wine and indulged in brownies lost of processed cheese food. I'll keep my ramblings to those who really care. Nothing terribly revealing, but goddamn, talk about a can of worms...wiiiiiiide open. We did see Jack cry. All that "Party of Five" training did him some good. Randomizing thoughts now:

The modern rock train comes through town so often, I can never seem to keep up with all the music I want to enjoy. In 20 words or less, can anyone tell me about the Decemberists and Tapes n' Tapes? Every song that I've ever heard by the Decemberists I've loved, but I don't own a single album, and Tapes n' Tapes are one of those bands that I should like , but I've only heard the name in passing. Thoughts?

If you like The Sounds, chew on Shiny Toy Guns for a while. They make me want to wear high heels and stomp around.

If you're a female and you're in Broken Social Scene, you've recently released a solo album. Any opinions on the new Amy Millan or the new Emily Hines album? I'm still getting into Metric. Give me a little time, will ya?

Mmmmmm...24p...read this if you want to know what is in my heart. Yes, my heart shoots in high definition.

You can now buy the first season of "The State" on iTunes for $9.95. Unfortunately, you do not get Porcupine Racetrack, but you do get Louie and Captain Monterey Jack and Barry & Levon. Mr. Show totally ripped off the concept of the seamless sketch from these guys. If you wore flannel in 1994, then you watched The State. I can't wait to see 2/3 of Stella on October 14th!!!

This made me fall out of my chair. I know that I'm late to the party again, but check out Ryan Adam's rap. It's not bad. No, seriously. Just go to his website. The song loads automatically...spaceships and hip-hop. Two great tastes that go together. New York City! Kevin Bacon, what the fuck!?! Kevin Costner-dot-com! Hilarity.

I can't believe Mark Foley. You were molested by a member of the clergy when you were young. I agree, this is terrible. BUT YOU'RE GAY? My brain starts to ache just thinking about this. You are a married man with two children. Now that you've been caught talking about hugely inappropriate things like boners with a teenage boy, you're gay. Really? I can just see the conservative right at this very moment. "Oh, he was gay. Huh...okay. That explains his deviant sexual behavior. Poor man!" AHHHHH! Stupidity and ignorance will always find you...you can't hide!

On a lighter note, one of my new favorite things is the Fanzone feature on the Fox Soccer Channel. FSC airs games from the Sky Sports network in Britian, but all the games are called by fans. Imagine the most passionate, vocal soccer fans with phrases like "go on," "come on Charlie boy" and "brilliant" and add the thickest accents you've ever heard . It's the only way to watch a game. All done. Now, back to the commercials.

Live together, die alone...

I need for the new season of "Lost" to start immediately. Like, yesterday. The special features on the season two DVDs are taking up unbelievable amounts of my time. The "Lost Connections" special feature on disc 7 reveals every single connection to almost every character, from our major players to more minor players like Leonard Simms, the Pilot (Weiss!) Locke's Mom and Vincent (yes, the dog), even Arzt! There seems to be a mysterious waving man that is connected to Jack, Jack's dad and Claire. Interesting...

My hat is off to you, nerds. Here is the complete map of the connections:

For more season 2 Easter eggs, you will find more goodies here. This Wednesday, party is at the Maplehurst! Doors are at 8pm - show at 9pm! There will be food and tasty beverages for all! Study up on all things "Lost" here.

Finally!

The final installment of our European Adventure can be found here. This concludes our broadcast day.
